Volunteer roles

We encourage all our members to volunteer. Although it is not required, volunteering is fun, rewarding and helps keep the club strong. There are many different ways to help out. For information on volunteer opportunities, please reach out to the <executives>.

These are some of the ways volunteers help the club.

Lead an evening ride Using a combination of regular bike maps, google and personal experience lay out a route that is an appropriate for the duration and type of riders. The leader also makes reservations for the post ride venue.  Each ride must have a pre-prepared route.A few hours of your time to scout a new or check an existing route with your assistant. 2-3 hours to run the ride – See Ride leader guide for more info.
Lead a day ride Using a combination of regular bike maps, google and personal experience lay out routes that are appropriate for the duration and a variety of rider levels. All weekend rides must have a pre-prepared route and map.   A day or half day to scout a new route or check an existing route with your assistant. A day to run the ride. – see the Ride leader guide for details.
Co-lead a ride Most rides should have an co-lead to support the lead. The co-lead must be familiar with the route and be able to fill in for the leader if needed.  The Co-lead may act as a sweep and/or ride front to back ensuring all riders are OK. A few hours of your time to help scout the route.  Ideally a Co-lead should also have some basic bike maintenance skills.
